Wiley-Blackwell New Scholar Publication Award
The Wiley Blackwell New Scholar Publication Award encourages new scholars to participate fully in the Association’s activities and to establish TCG / LGC as a priority outlet for their research.
Every two years TCG / LGC will award a prize of $1,000 for the best paper by a new scholar.
The award will be adjudicated in even numbered years based on eligible articles published in the past two complete volumes of TCG/LGC: Volumes 52 & 53 in 2010, 54 & 55 in 2012, etc.
For the purposes of this award, new scholars are defined as students, post-doctoral fellows, or faculty members in their first year of full-time appointment on the date of submission. Previous winners are ineligible.
Single-authored or first-authored papers by new scholars are eligible. If co-authors are not new scholars as defined above, evidence of the role of the new scholar in the research process and in writing the paper will be solicited. New scholars are responsible to identify themselves as such to the Editor.
An adjudication committee of three drawn from the Editorial Board and other senior members of the CAG/ACG will be appointed by the Editor to assess eligible articles. The Editor is responsible for making all interpretations under these rules.
The award will be announced in even-numbered years during the annual meeting of the association.
From 2004 to 2009 Wiley-Blackwell Publishing supported an annual prize to recognize the outstanding contribution of a recent Ph.d graduate in geography. See the lists of recipients.
This award has been combined with TCG New Scholar Award to form the Wiley-Blackwell New Scholar Publication Award.
